Advice needed
Advice needed
I'm just finishing installing and squaring my towers and I am finding it difficult, if not impossible, to get an even gap on the 3 legs at the base. Essentially, when square, the towers have no gap at all on 2 sides and only the slightest on the other. There seems to be no in-out movement available when they are loosened enough to move.
I'd appreciate it if some of you veterans would take a look at these pics and let me know if I need to keep trying to adjust this. I am tempted to call it good and move on.

This is looking pretty darn good to me personally.

Re: Advice needed
In my experience Gaps are the least of your worries. Concentrate on squareness. It helps to make sure each of the three pilars are equidistant from eachother, there is a fixture on thingaverse that can help.

They look fine. What is important is that they are perfectly square to the base.

Do you think a band clamp would accomplish the same thing?626Pilot wrote:This is what I use: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:147456

Not sure what that means Gene, a band clamp wouldn't work? I wasn't sure but it seems it would do the same job as the printed clamp.geneb wrote:This one time, at band clamp.....

Just about! I'd definitely try a couple of those if I had any. I assume you mean the strap that clamps to itself and ratchets down, like a furniture mover would use?Eaglezsoar wrote: Do you think a band clamp would accomplish the same thing?

The band clamps that I have are made for woodworking, here is a link to what I mean: http://www.amazon.com/15-Ft-Ratcheting- ... band+clamp626Pilot wrote:Just about! I would put it around the uprights and tighten, in my mind it would seem to accomplish what the printed clamp does.
EDIT: After thinking about it some more I do not feel the band clamp would work the same as the printed clamps, the printed clamps allow you to tweak each upright
separately, the band clamp would not give you that flexibility. I have printed out the clamps now I need to buy some threaded rod.
