New firmware heats up both extruders

Post by Generic Default »

Hi everyone,
I just switched to the new firmware that SeeMeCNC put out on November 6th, and I noticed that it heats up both the primary and the secondary extruders (if a second one is plugged in). I have an E3D hotend mounted to my effector plate and the default nozzle is temporarily sitting on the side of the printer, out of use. When I start a print, both nozzles heat up to the target temperature even though my firmware is configured so that there is only one extruder. The older firmware didn't do this, and I think this new thing is a bug.

It just noticed it on my first print with the new firmware because the default extruder started smoking and burning the cork board it's sitting on. Luckily I caught it but it could have burned down the building.....

On the bright side, the new firmware hasn't caused any retract fails yet, while the old firmware constantly did. It seems a lot smoother and a little bit more quiet.
Check out the Tri hotend!

The updated firmware is positioned at new users that would be attaching a PEEK fan to HEAT 1 and not a secondary extruder.

Do you have a direct hotline into them or something? You seem to know what they are doing before they do. :)

The firmware tweak was originally done for the Orion I think. Either way, it's a good feature for those that don't want to have to make sure all their slicers have the M42 commands added.

The new rev of the manual includes the new accessory appendix that covers printing the fan shroud and gives both methods on how to use it.

You'll have to ask John - I don't know how the mod was done.

I'm hoping he encapsulated it with an #ifdef, but I don't know.

bump - is this still an issue with the new .91 firmware?

I'm still running .80 and I'm planning an upgrade, probably tonight.
