Have a Rostock Max which is working fantastic. The one thing I wish for is to have a much larger print area, so I want to expand the Rostock so I can add multiple heat beds. I can make a different set of supports for the extruder without a problem and reprogram the controller easily enough, but the one thing I cannot find is the Melamine board. Without it I'm dead in the water.
Does anyone have a clue where to buy this board in uncut sheets? I have not found anything like it at the local hardware stores and I'm at a loss.
Thanks!
where to buy melamine sheets?
Re: where to buy melamine sheets?
They purchase the Melamine from a local Menard's of all places.
I can't find the same stuff local to me (we have no Menard's in Washington State), which sucks.
Remember that if you increase the size of the base, you'll have to lengthen the arms as well.

Love Menards. It's like going to a Fry's Electronics after being stuck with Radio Shack all your life.geneb wrote:They purchase the Melamine from a local Menard's of all places.

Re: where to buy melamine sheets?
Go on Yelp or Angie's List and look for a lumber yard. I found a decent one near me that will deliver for only $10 as long as the order is over $500.
You're also going to have to figure out how to get some longer arms, like Gene said. I'd tackle that problem first because it's more difficult, and without it the melamine doesn't help. Perhaps the arms could be cut from melamine, but I don't know that a wood product is the right way to go on that. A good bet is probably to ask the guy from Trick Laser if he can make you some custom carbon fiber arms. They will need to be long enough to reach almost all the way from one tower to its neighbors or else you will lose printable width. (Basically, take the horizontal distance between the hot end's center and the delta arms' U-joints, add the horizontal distance between the tower and the carriage U-joints, and subtract that number from the distance from one tower to its neighbor.)

You might want to talk to Brian over at tricklaser.com - he might be up for building you a custom set of his carbon fiber arms.
