Final version of my linear x-carrage

Post by guanu »

So once my printer is back up and running, I'll be able to print and tweak, but theoretically its all correct to work...

Its designed that when you change the smooth rod to 8mm, the blocks are bolted to the top of the z axis plates, and requires no hardware to attach the timing belt, and has holes for a 50mm fan to attach to the back as well... It should just take the hot end like normal, and the 4 LM8UU bearings just snap in and the block will lock them in place...

whatcha think?

just noticed that it would be difficult to print the recess for the hex bolts the hot end uses, so I added a fillet and made it a little deeper to compensate, so it can be printed without needing that area supported.. so the only bridge will be where the 2 legs from the extruder hang down for the filament pressure adjustment.. everything else is nice and smooth and should be easily printed..

Nice work Guanu! I may have to print this and swap out for LM8UU's.
Can this be modified for LM6UU's? Would the smaller bearings work as well?

Thanks,

Mike

Yeah, I would appreciate a version for LM6UU's. No rush though, I won't be able to print anything until this weekend.

Thanks,

done! here's the LM6UU version... if you want the LM8 version, I have that too...
Edit #3... lol, noticed lowering the diameter would make the bearings almost impossible to snap in, so I lowered the area you snap them into.. enjoy!

Hey Guanu,

The STL file for the LM6UU carriage is causing Slic3r 8.2 to fail (big surprise :-). I am going to try 8.3 and see if it still fails.
