New Repetier Version - Support Issue

Post by Capt Jack »

I just upgraded to the lastest version of Repetier/Slic3r, and I'm having an issue. I didn't change any of my support settings, yet it's not making nearly enough support for my prints. I've changed the overhang threshold and I can't seem to get the right amout of support.

I thought that I could still print with less support, and halfway through a 5 hour print, I got spaghetti thanks to an unsupported overhang.

Anyone else have these issues or suggestions?

Captain, I am not running that version of Slic3r yet but does it offer the ability to change the support structure? If not you have
little choice but to downgrade to the earlier version temporarily until the new version fixes the ability to alter the support structure.

One of the things the release notes talk about is how the Slic3r support has changed and that people may want to set their support settings back to the defaults at first.

I personally never had good luck with Slicer support until this build, when I tried experimenting with it, and I thought it was surprisingly good at the defaults.

I just took the easy way out and re-installed the prior version. Everything working just fine again.

Not sure what they changed that conflicted so much with the settings I was using. Oh well...

You can always install the new slicer to a different folder and use it when you don't need support but I'm sure you know that.
It seems every new version adds new features, fixes some things and breaks others.
