Finally finished my little project of top mounting the filament and the extruder. Haven't had a chance to run prints yet (other than testing that the extruder works) but I think I'm going to be happy with this. Note: I have a pre-production Orion so I had the mounting holes on the top that the productions printers do not.

That looks nice setting up there. Looks like a nice upgrade for all of the Orion's.

A little update on this.
It has been working really well. I can't say for certain that top mounting improves performance but I like this setup better than stock. I was having a bit of an issue with the tubing getting wedged in the cheapskates but then I added this and it isn't a problem anymore.
I wish I remembered what this product was exactly. I added it to my scroll saw table about 10 years ago so wood would slide very easily on it. I think it is probably Teflon.

you might be able to shorten your bowden tube a bit... or rotate your ezstruder 90 deg so the tube goes towards the other way. or leave the tape
