E3d kiss settings

Post by thenewguy »

I'm using an e3d and a .4 nozzle size and need some help with my settings in kiss.

This is what I'm trying to use with a layer thickness of .1
I think I'm close but not sure about skin thickness?

Extrusion width .45
Infill extrusion width .45
Layer thickness .1
Skin thickness 1.3
Loops 3
Stacked infill support layers 1
Inset surface 0
Seam hiding 0.0
Jitter 360

Also if the test cube is supposed to be .5 how should that measure up on my calipers with a .45 extrusion width?

.2 layer height I had good prints.

But settings were way diff like .42 width. People keep saying .45 though.

But I made a lot of changes like longer beams printed a new effector and a few other small upgrades.
Now I'm getting oval prints on my nickel cal print.

I fear my new beams could be warped. Or my new effector I printed is oval. : /

However my build height is now 440. : )

i mainly use kiss, when i start with new filament i usually use default nozzle .4 with a .4 nozzle at the start, if i see i need a little more fill on the perimeters i would increase. the same goes with the second infill diameter.. the higher the number the more overlap (because of the extra material extruded) there will be inside which will give a better bond. skin setting has an effect on both perimeters and top and bottom thickness. i usually make (nozzle width * perimeter) > thickness so all i have to worry about is how many solid infill layers i want on the top and bottom and multiply that by layer height. careful if your thickness > (nozzle width * perimeters) kiss will try to fill that void with solid infill not fill density. it has taken me a lot of trial and error to get things the way i wanted them, and they are still not perfect the first go around.

kiss settings aside, i would make sure that your stuff is square and not warped or all these settings will be for nothing.
