I just built my Rostock Max this weekend at the Blu-Bin build event. It was working fine when printing a GCode file supplied by SeeMeCNC, but I wanted to hook the printer up to a computer running Repetier Host. I managed to get RH and Slice3r configured somewhat reasonably, sliced an object, and started a print. When I returned, the host computer had just hung. I rebooted. When I retried the print, it would not stick. I figured that the Z height was bad. I tried to recall all of the manual steps we performed with the LCD controller, to get the hot end zeroed in on the bed. I must have activated the wrong thing in the LCD. Now, whenever I try to Home All (whether from the LCD or from RH), the carriage just drops down an inch or so.
I can find no documentation about the LCD display in the manual, nor can I find documentation for the procedure that was used during the build to get everything leveled. I have no idea what it means that Home All just causes the carriage to drop (rather than to rise).
Suddenly dead in the water
Home just moves carriage down a bit
Re: Home just moves carriage down a bit
The Z Max Length was set to zero in the EEProm.
Still would like documentation about the LCD procedures

Another Vermont Rostock
I'd recommend looking up a copy of Geneb's Rostock Assembly manual and going through all the calibration steps there to get Repetier and the Rambo all configured. That's why I did and I have never found it necessary to use any of the LCD commands other than the SD menu and the occasional Home All when I abort a print. Once the EEPROM is set up, I don't think you'll need to worry about that again.
I'm in the Burlington area and took one of Blu-Bin's free workshops back before Christmas. Was going to attend the build event but just couldn't wait, so I ordered and built one over the holidays.

Re: Home just moves carriage down a bit
Dave: did you have to alter the firmware to remove the convex/concave geometry? I'm trying to avoid that (since I do not know exactly what firmware was loaded [exactly .H settings]).
How long did the build take you?
Are you a member of the Burlington 3D Printing and Design Meetup? We meet tomorrow evening a Champlain's Miller Center

Re: Home just moves carriage down a bit
No, I didn't need to alter the geometry, at least not yet. Then again, I really haven't pushed the build envelope too hard, though I have done a few large items that turned out fine. The build took me a couple weeks I think, doing an hour or two a night, including some painting which slowed me down. I also waited on some upgrade parts that I decided to install from the outset - carbon fiber, ball end delta arms, an LED illumination ring on the platform and modified spool and extruder mounts, all from Trick Laser. You can find my build log in that named sub-forum. I followed Gene's Assembly Guide pretty much to the letter and everything seems to have worked out very well. Once I get over the thrill of having a printer, I will spend a little more time fine tuning the calibration but it's just too much fun right now to take the time
I'm not a member of the group, though I should look into that. My big problem will be that I am already committed to a different meeting on Wednesday nights.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't looked at the links you posted yet. However it just did it to me again. Here is the last few lines of the log. Anything jump out?
