Thank you for your product, I am very impress of the affordable price and documentation quality.
I am building the SeeMeCNC H-1 and I am at section 7.1 - Z Axis Screw Assembly, I have a newbie question on point #2 :
- Thread a 1/4-20 Nylon Lock Nut (#30157) .... Position it about 3'' from the end of the screw.
When I am trying to thread the lock nut, the nylon makes it impossible to smoothly thread the nut on the screw, it makes the screw turns and I can't hold it with my fingers. I think I could block the screw at the other end with an electric screw driver but this will compress the screw thread and I will probably need to repair it after...
I guess there is a better method to do this step. Any advice-tips to achieve this step?

I used an exatco kniofe and did a little trim . May not have been the best idea but it worked.

I did the same thing jbinion did. Took a knife and cut down the nylon until I could get it on. Tried to leave enough to hold when it was all said and done, but time will tell how that works out.
Home made Cnc, 2 CarveWright wood carving machines, Laser cutter/engraver, large format vinyl cutter, large format printer, and now a 3D Printer! Oh, and a shop full of equipment to take large expensive pieces of wood and turn them into scrap and sawdust.

I think I found a good way by using the two 1/4-20 Nuts on the lower end. I screw them in the opposition direction (against each other) which creates a strong link where I can hold my wrenches to hold the screw in place.
After I can turn the timing pulley with my fingers to screw the top nylon luck nut that is hold by a wrench.
This way, I don't have to trim the nylon or damage the thread of the screw.

uhm the lock nut goes on with the threads first guys, i used vice grips to hold the rod and thread it on with a wrench

We're aware the threads go on first. Just didn't want to mess up the threads with a vise grips. I've regretted doing that in the past...

ahh ok just checking,. it works well for me, even if you mess it up a bit normally threading a nut on will straiten them out

This is what you do ,,, take two non-nylon nuts and thread them onto the other end of the threaded rod and tighten one against the other. Use the two locked nuts to hold the threaded rod in place, while you screw the nylon nut on the other end
