Hi everyone,
I turned on my Rostock Max to print a part tonight, and the LCD didn't work right. The blue screen was showing several things;
-Flicking between on and off.
-Showing weird characters and a bunch of random text on the screen during the times it was on. It looks something like this if I remember right:
??????????///////???///////???/??????E///????=-...////?????
//////??????:::::::?/////??/???///E...????????//////........???
-Not beeping. I usually have beep turned off but I turned it back on by uploading the firmware to it. It still didn't beep.
-The screen would turn off when I rotated the knob a click, then turn back on when I rotated the knob another click. Direction of rotation didn't matter; it was like a toggle. The screen was just blank and blue with no characters on it. None of the normal text showed up.
I needed to print a part, so I connected my laptop to the rambo with the USB and it printed the 4 hour part with no problems at all.
I don't want to touch the LCD or put the SD card in because I'm afraid it will screw it up even more. I did, however, unplug the cables and put them back in the right order to make sure it wasn't a connection problem. I didn't change anything with the LCD before the problem started.
I'll try to get pictures in the next few days if I can.
Does anyone know what's wrong with it? I don't want to have to print from my laptop for hours every time I need a part!

Re: Dead LCD?
I checked out the raspberry pi and it looks tempting to be able to print wirelessly. It also looks really hard to do based on the 10 page post I found while Googling how to do it.
I never actually found a clear answer to the work flow chain for it. Tell me if the stuff below is in the correct order.
1) Slice model with Cura or Slicer or Kisslicer.
2) Use Octoprint to send gcode to the raspberry pi over a wireless connection.
3) Start the print with Octoprint.
4) The raspberry pi board uses the USB output to connect to the RAMBO board just like a laptop would normally do; start printing
Am I missing a step in there somewhere?

Re: Dead LCD?
Bump.
I haven't contacted SeeMeCNC yet for a replacement LCD screen because I'm not sure if I want to stick with the LCD or go for a wireless raspberry pi setup. I know of only one person with a rostock who has octoprint setup and running, but I really want to make sure I can print with no problems if I choose to spend ~$40 to fix this.
Can anyone give advice?
Thanks!

Re: Dead LCD?
I have a computer connected to the printer but I would still want the Lcd.
I think the same thing applies to the PI, I have it to print with but I would still want the Lcd.
