They're using my variant on the Trick Laser j-head mount. I've added strain relief lugs and I wired it using solid core wire and a four pin quick disconnect. The connector is the same type that's used on the RAMBo & stepper motors.
The modified files I sent back to Brian include a deeper and wider relief throat so that the wire-tie won't be required.

The Aluhotend is not really discussed on this forum. Can you tell us how it works with PLA and ABS and is it as good as the E3D?geneb wrote:Aluhotend:

Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
Looks just like the Magma from trinity labs... I know someone was ranting about it earlier...
Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
I haven't used either one.
From what I've read, all-metal hot ends are problematic with PLA so I won't even bother. That's why I got the j-head.
I haven't put either one into service yet.

I going to see if I can find some info on the aluhotend and report what I find.geneb wrote:I haven't used either one.

The one hotend that is all metal is not rated to high and that is the Magma.

Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
Forget the Aluhotend. It looks to be an all metal hotend but it is not. It has PTFE liners and the max recommended temperature is 245C.
Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
I emailed him to see which version I got - I bought it months ago.
I'm gonna be hugely annoyed if it's got a liner.

Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
I'm pretty sure that's a magma 3mm adapted to 1.75 with a Teflon liner..
Re: Two quick-change hot ends...
It's not a Magma. It's made buy a guy I know in .au.
I wasn't aware of the liner - I wanted it so I could print "exotic" high-temp materials.
I can still use it though - I'll just throw it on my LulzBot TAZ - I've never been happy with the Budaschnozzle 2.0 hot end that it's got anyway.
