Aluminum plate

Post by Holy1 »

Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone has tried to print onto an aluminum plate instead of glass. Would the prints stick better? I have a piece about 1/8" thick and don't know if it would be worth while to cut it up.

Thanks

The aluminum plate is for heat distribution and should always be covered by glass. I do not want my aluminum plate getting scratched up by removing parts
and the glass helps to provide a flat surface. I have not tried to print directly to the aluminum nor will I ever try to because of the above reasons plus I just
don't think it is a good idea. Unless you are using a cast aluminum Mic-6 plate it is not going to be flat but cover it with glass and it becomes flat.

I would not print to the heat plate, I meant put an aluminum plate instead of the glass.

The aluminum is not going to be truly flat and as it heats it is going to tend to bow.
