Running a prit job without filament

Post by jbinion »

I have been trying running without filament to figure out how long a print job takes. Is there an easier way, or am I missing something in slic3r? We put a fan on the front of the printer, but we're still having some problems with the filament expanding in the tube. Seems like time to switch from abs.

I've had very little jams for the amount i printed with pla, I found that if you get the right temp then the fan is useless and makes jams more frequent.

We have the hot end temp at 200-205c. What temp are you using?

Try lowering your temps jbinion. PLA usually doesn't require near as much heat as ABS does, the lower temp you can get away with extruding at, the less heat-creep up in the hot-end you will have, which equals less jamming. I'd still try focusing the fans airflow directly at the upper section of the barrel, that usually does it.
