I've been playing with this beauty for a bit in hopes to use it in multiple projects, one being a media center streaming box that plays 1080p (simple start, I know):

Like others are saying on here, I want as much horsepower as I can get for the money. Just the ability for higher precision and advanced prediction will easily make things better, even when converting to mechanical behavior.

I used to argue with folks when they would tell me that a 1980's Bosch Motronic ECU was plenty capable of handling a car. I would show them an F1 ECU with 4 200mhz processors packed into about the same space as their 80's outdated 8051 ECU. Hell, even nowadays, tuning between an OBD1 Bosch ECU on a 90s BMW 3 series and the later OBD2 Siemens ECU saw improvement in multiple categories, even though the Siemens had a lot more to do on the emissions side of things. Now, ECUs are powerful enough to use fuzzy logic instead of constantly referencing tables all the time.

Like I said, I am all for more ponies behind the wheel. :D

I theorize car people think about cars with the same circuitry they use to think about politics and religion. So, good luck. ;)

The fact that there are EFI to carb/dizzy kits out there defines the market perfectly. :P

In BMW Club Racing circles the (rare) ODB1 E36 M3s are very sought after and many people even do an ODB2->ODB1 swap because the ODB1 cars are quicker :P
