Super Sticky bed prep

Post by Deepc »

Hi everybody-new to the forum and 3D printing and in my trials of trying to produce non warped parts in ABS I came across a little tip for making large thin flat parts stay down and It works pretty well on most anything. Before I heat the build plate I lay down strips of Stitch Witchery on the glass plate and "glue" it down with hairspray. This makes a pretty good surface for the ABS to bond with and stay stuck down and it stays down for several uses. There are lots of brands of this type of stuff it's called Fusible Web and you can get it in large sheets. I'm just using strips because that's what we have around the house.

3d2print.net also recommended to me the hairspray when I ordered filaments from them. And it’s really amazing how hairspray can make the ABS filament stick very well on the print bed. I haven’t tried the Stitch Witchery because an extra strong hairspray is enough and works great. Anyway, thanks for the tip. :)
