Ezstruder breaking filament

Post by truenorthtrader »

Hello!

I just installed an Ezstruder ( was using Steves extruder ) It's much better except it's broken filament at around the hobbed gear twice already and ruined a print twice.
I have it aligned pretty good, double checked it.
The Filament was working fine with Steve's extruder.

The print has alot of retractions as there are spaces every 5mm or so.

I have the speed at 35 mm/s and 4.5mm retraction. EEprom steps / mm is set to 92.65
Is the acceleration too high or fast for this Extruder?
The default acceleration is 6500

thank you again!

I would cut that acceleration in halve but I do not believe that is what is breaking your filament.
I would check the mounting of the EZStuder and make sure that the filament does not have to make sharp turns to enter the bottom of the EZstruder.
You do not say what kind of filament it is but PLA in particular does not like being bent beyond a certain radius. Check you filament path and do what you
can to make the filament enter the EZstruder without any bends, if possible. Also make sure that the center of the drive cog in the EZstruder is lined up with the
center of the bearing.
