Almost there.. I hope. Was ready to go but had a meltdown. I think the temp was just too hot, I do hear the relay on MK138 so seems to be working. Using multimeter with probe but readings seems to change quite a bit depending on touch location. Any way, have some PEEK and Teflon tube on order. I was thinking of extending the length of PEEK to lower the head away from the carrage some. (Seems very close) Or turning a new top part to do the same. Anyone care to comment? downside?
Thanks
Meltdown
Re: Meltdown
Experimenting with the design is part of the fun for some people. So try it if you want to! Only minus I can think of is that your max build height will be reduced by however far you extend it.
But I don't think the distance from the carriage had anything to do with this particular meltdown. From the picture, it looks like the hot end just got way too hot, assuming the damaged end of the PEEK came out of the hot head. So you need to figure out why that happened.

Re: Meltdown
Yep, I agree RCA is in order. That is why I tested the setup after meltdown and without changing the pot setting. about 235-240 C, before starting the print I thought I was running about 210. Just too hot or thermistor short when in motion.
I have a new PID I'm thinking of using (thermalcouple). I also will be adding a heated bed (just got it last week) and the gnexlab setup looks like a good way to go. http://cnc2printer3d.wordpress.com/2012 ... -gecs2tc1/ .. don't tell my wife what the first print cost will be
Not too worried about reduction of Z by 1/2 inch or even an inch, just seems the clearance should be more than about 3/16" (sorry, brain does not think in metric)
BTW.. John or Oly are you using a 6mm drill on the PEEK for the Teflon tube?

Re: Meltdown
Jimrk, I use a 1/4" drill thru the peek tube. Its a tiny bit oversized, that way if you want to run 1.75 you just slit the 4mm tube and slide in a piece of 2mm inside and it still works
