Effector Platform Part Number
Effector Platform Part Number
Hi guys,
I am in the process of building my kit, and have contacted SeeMeCNC several times via email with no response. My lab assistant and I wondered if there was a problem with email, so we re-tried from a completely different account with a lengthy explanation, but still no response. The thing is, the original email detailed a list of missing parts, along with a question about the effector platform, and (most of) the replacement parts were almost immediately (apparently) sent out and arrived, but without anyone from SeeMeCNC responding. I mailed John Oly, Shipping, and Customer Service, to no avail.
So, I'm hoping that someone in the forum can help. Here's the problem ... The parts list and assembly manual indicated that the effector platform is in two halves, both numbered 68304. I did not receive any such parts nor did I receive the 12 1/4” long #4 sheet metal screws required to put the two halves together. Instead I received something that "sort of looks like" the effector platform, however its a single part stamped 70832, and I do not see such a part in the parts list, nor is it mentioned in the assembly guide. Furthermore, it just isn't the right size as far as I can tell. The hot-end adapter plate and the missing part 68304 both have six holes which line up (three of which are used), but none of these holes line up with the effector platform I have stamped 70832.
So what do I do? Do I have a "new and improved" version of the effector plate, or just the outright wrong part? If anyone knows someone at SeeMeCNC that can forward this to an email that they will actually answer, that'd be great (especially if I do in fact need a different part). Failing that, hopefully someone on the forum can help me directly with this problem. Thanks in advance!

Re: Effector Platform Part Number
is it the v2 rostockMax?
Re: Effector Platform Part Number
No, its the the previous version. Unfortunately v2 came out immediately after they shipped mine ... if I had of know, I'd have waited for a week! Oh well.

If your part looks like this then it is the new V2 effector.

Re: Effector Platform Part Number
Yes, that's exactly what it looks like, and I also have those three "retaining clips" that hold the U-joints from falling off the end. They did not appear in the parts list and have been a mystery up until now! I'd have to drive over to my lab to confirm this, but I'm pretty certain that this plate is smaller than the old one and therefore the hot end adapter plate is not going to fit. Furthermore, the delta arms are going to be shorter than they should be if I use this part which will make things operate differently than expected.
So now the new questions become:
1/ can I actually just replace the old plate with the new plate without serious repercussions?
and
2/ how am I supposed to attach the hot end adapter plate when the holes don't line up?

It is supposed to be a direct replacement for the old effector style. Are you positive that thetownsend wrote:Yes, that's exactly what it looks like, and I also have those three "retaining clips" that hold the U-joints from falling off the end. hot end adapter plate doesn't line up? If that is the case, and I know you do not want to hear
it but you are going to have to contact support and ask them to send the old style effector.
Re: Effector Platform Part Number
Well, the first thing I noticed was that the hot end adapter had six holes, whereas the effector plate only had three, but I note that in the assembly manual, only three of the six holes in the old effector plate are actually used ... therefore, its not the hole count that's at issue, however I thought I also remembered that the holes were not the right spacing to line up with three of the holes in the hot end adapter ... but like I said, I'll have to drive over to the lab to confirm this.
Of course, if that's the only issue, I'm sure I could carefully drill some new holes in the hot end plate to accommodate the new effector plate. Its probably a lot less trouble for everyone.
Do the U-joints "live" at the same relative location to one another in the new effector plate versus the original effector plate? In other words, is the distance between the three pairs of U-joints the same with the new effector plate as it was with the old? If so, then there are absolutely no issues with the delta arm lengths.
SeemeCNC was fantastic about shipping out the parts that I knew were missing - they did so immediately, and I appreciated that, but I don't understand why they wouldn't answer all these questions I asked about this effector plate ... in fact they didn't acknowledge receipt of any email I sent - rather the package of missing parts just arrived out of the blue.
Anyway, I'm glad there's a forum to get help from, or I'd be lost! I'll go to the lab this morning and check the spacing of the holes on the two parts. If its not right, I guess I'll just use the new effector plate as a drilling template (and figure out how to ensure that its concentric with the hot end adapter) and maybe that'll fix things.

Coult their emails be getting tangled up in your spam filters? I know SeeMe (especially John and Steve) reply very speedily and readily to emails sent to them, I think you may just not be getting them for some reason.

I think you will find that the holes will line up. It is my understanding that the new effector is a direct replacement for the old. If it is not we need to know this so that the forumtownsend wrote:Well, the first thing I noticed was that the hot end adapter had six holes, whereas the effector plate only had three, but I note that in the assembly manual, only three of the six holes in the old effector plate are actually used ... therefore, its not the hole count that's at issue, however I thought I also remembered that the holes were not the right spacing to line up with three of the holes in the hot end adapter ... but like I said, I'll have to drive over to the lab to confirm this.

Re: Effector Platform Part Number
Okay, I just checked and you were absolutely correct - the new plate DOES fit the old hot end adapter, so all is well again and I'm back on track ... Thanks for the help!

I've noticed when they are out of the shop like for a show or something email replies can fall behind (as with any one who uses email).
with these kits no drilling is required, so put that drill away!
