I ordered a Rostock Max V2 kit today and am looking forward to receiving it and the recommended connectors. I have read the Assembly Guide and will work through it a couple more times before the kit gets here.
Being an incurable optimist, I tend to think ahead while waiting for bits and pieces to arrive. Can anyone point me to an article or document that talks about what should be done after the printer is built? Other than give it a whirl.... Has anyone written an alignment or validation process to verify that everything is working correctly? Is there a common test object that can be used to test things with?

You'll find all of that in the instruction guide by @Geneb. It is very detailed. From there, take a look at the Look what I'm building for other things to print. And then, there are always mods for your Rostock here:

Is the "Instruction Guide" you refer to the same as the "Assembly Guide"? If not, where can I find it?

It does cover calibration as well - I posted the 1.0 update on the locked thread in the v2 forum.
When I get a chance, I'll go over your first two prints - instead of the calibration cube, it will be the two fan shrouds.

McSlappy, one is for the PEEK fan and the other is for the layer fan. The new effector platform mold actually has a tab for mounting the new fan design that Andy did.
With any luck, I'll get that posted tomorrow. If you look at the photo of the effector platform I posted, you'll see a single tab with a hole in it sticking out of the effector - that's the layer fan mount. (Which reminds me - John, you forgot to include a #4, 1/4" machine screw to bolt that down...
)

I am pleased to report that I received my MAX V2 kit last week and was able to assemble it with about 20-24 hours effort.
It took me 2.5 hours just to peel the laser cut panels and complete the part inventory. My kit was missing the U-Joint spring clips, but I spoke to Steve on the SeeMeCNC support line and he sent them out to me via UPS overnight at no cost. Things happen, this is just the way life works. What counts is how the people you choose to buy from deal with it. SeeMeCNC earned some big brownie points in my list for their recovery.
I got a bit heavy handed and managed to break one of the home switches, but had a replacement readily available and was able to swap it out in about two minutes.
I have been building kits for more than 45 years now and was very impressed when the MAX V2 came up and worked the first time I powered it up. A lot of credit certainly goes to SeeMeCNC, but the real star in this story is Gene and his assembly guide. A truly outstanding effort!
I spent about 45 minutes on the bed alignment effort and I think I got a pretty good result for it. The disappearing purple glue stick worked really well and I was able to print the PEEK shroud without any difficulty. The fan pocket was a bit tight and I managed to fracture it when I pressed the fan in. The fact that I used an arbor press had a lot to do with this...
I printed another one and with some guidance from this forum filed it a bit to get the fit I needed. The layer fan shroud printed in one pass without any difficulties. I suspect this was largely a result of following Gene's recommendation to slow the print speed down for this part.
I have printed sever more small parts and have a few noob questions, but this will have to wait for my next post.

Ok, time for a few Noob questions...
Is there an operators guide somewhere that I missed?
After printing several parts the disappearing purple glue tends to build up a bit. Should it be cleaned off and reapplied from scratch periodically? How often, every time I print something? How, soapy water in the kitchen sink? Dishwasher safe?
So far I have been doing everything with ABS (mostly because this was the right material for the fan shrouds). I know I have to switch the material spool, but how do I back the ABS out, push the feed release and pull? I also know that I will need to load the PLA profile... but I should be able to figure this out from the assembly guide instructions for ABS. What are the 'right' steps to be followed if I want to switch over to PLA? What about when I switch back?
