Has anyone come up with a slick way to get the resistors to fit other than the tapered cutting of aluminum foil? That seems pretty fiddly. For instance, how to hold it to get started, super glue the tabs to the resistor and wind 'er up, or what?
It seems there should be some paste stuff that might setup with the first heating or something. This foil wrapping doesn't seem that good a way to get contact(;-o)

I can't find the name of the product used, but I think a ceramic paste could be what you are looking for.
Here is an extruder being 'assembled' with ceramic paste as a housing for nichrome wire.

I thought the foil wrapping was a good idea. Great thermal conductivity and malleable enough to not risk crushing the resistor. To get it started I used a little dab of water on the foil. It was just "sticky" enough to get going.

I used a small piece of Kapton Tape to hold the foil in place on the resistors and then another piece wrapped around the whole wad to keep it from unwinding. Works great.
