Printer 'reboots' then coolsdown right at beginning of print
I have failed about 10 prints in a row. I have been trying to print directly from usb and sd card. I have been having same results. print stops at same place.
I just recently got the printer. I dont think its a problem with it... I really dont know, but it will print fine the blinky and vase.
the prints im doing are models I made in blender. I checked them and they are print ready. but when I start the print job, it prints the skirt and then a couple centimeters of line then seems to 'reboot' the lcd screen flashes off then comes back on, like it powered off then back on, and starts to cool down.
has anyone had this same problem, im new to 3d printing. is this a printer problem? or a repetier host problem, or slic3r?

If I had to guess, you probably have a lose wire, or bad connection somewhere in your wiring.
If the LCD is resetting! odds are you are probably losing power, either because something got hot or it moved in a funny way, could also be a short! but those usually blow fuses.
I guess it could also be something overheating on the RAMBO board, but usually the stepper drivers are the first thing to overheat and you see the lost steps.

If I could tell a pattern of something the sound gets to be a lower slower movement and I know its about to cut out. but would you know how I could check the wiring? I dont understand how it works with the blinky and vase tho but not my files.

It's possible you're exposing a bug in repetier, but given the number of people using it, if your seeing it in a lot of different models, I think it's unlikely.graphixmonster wrote:If I could tell a pattern of something the sound gets to be a lower slower movement and I know its about to cut out. but would you know how I could check the wiring? You could try posting some of the GCode here and someone else could try running it to eliminate that case.
For the LCD to reset either the GCode has to contain a reset code, repetier has to crash, or you get a momentary lack of power. The latter would be my first guess, that's either wiring or possibly a bad PSU.
As to why some prints work, I really couldn't tell.
What printer do you have?

It occurs to me you would get the same if you are powering the logic side of the board from USB and your computer went to sleep.

I have an orion delta 3d printer. I will try to post the code, tomorrow. being i am away. I wish i knew what the certain gcodes meant is there a way to see what they mean?

i could try to find what the code was right before it reboots.

Do a search on Google for gcodes, you will find a list and what they do.graphixmonster wrote:I have an orion delta 3d printer. I will try to post the code, tomorrow. being i am away. I wish i knew what the certain gcodes meant is there a way to see what they mean?

I will try that thankyou. I have the gcode ready to put here for someone if someone wanted to try printing it out. its suppose to be a dinosaur skull. another thing i noticed, the blinky is a gco file and my slic3r is out puting gcode. it there any difference? is there files that are just 'too big' for the printer?
another thing i will add, is that one of my prints actually went thru the other day, but after it went thru never again.

The printer should recognize the .gco or the .gcode and so far I have not found one that is too large.graphixmonster wrote:I will try that thankyou. If you are using the original SD card that came with the Orion I would recommend that you get a new card that has a class rating of five or higher.
The manufacturer of the LCD cheapened out on the card and it is common to get read errors from the original card. If you look at the original card you will see
that there is no speed rating. This could be causing some of your problems but I doubt if it will correct all the problems you reported. One step at a time.

I just tried another sd card, it did same thing. and the sd card i got with it must have been after everyone was getting buggy ones, because it had all the standard labeling on it. thats actually what i ran the vase, blinky and fan .gco files and it works fine from it. so I guess that rules sdcard out
I downloaded a file from 'repables' and sliced it and it ran.. so idk.
I use BLENDER do you think that could be causing problems? or if i use blender, should i try bringing into another program to output it?

You can generate the STL file from whatever software that allows it but I would get into the habit of checking the STL file with a program calledgraphixmonster wrote:I just tried another sd card, it did same thing. and the sd card i got with it must have been after everyone was getting buggy ones, because it had all the standard labeling on it. thats actually what i ran the vase, blinky and fan .gco files and it works fine from it. so I guess that rules sdcard out

Netfabb of which there is a free "starter" version. Netfabb will analyze the file and tell you if it needs repair and has onboard repair tools that
can fix some of the errors it finds. There is also a Netfabb cloud service at cloud.netfabb.com that you can send your STL file through and it
also can fix some of the errors it finds if there are errors.

I have it it i'll try ruling out the file case. Did anyone get a chance to look at the gcode to see if it wasnt a kill code in it or something?

I have had some luck with 'reorientating' like setting things on their side. but still running into problems, especially if its a big print. does anyone think this could be with the connection tab in the printer settings? because I saw a setting that said, "RESET ON EMERGENCY" something to that effect. and well, gosh darn it, thats what its doing, its resetting... Im really stumped.
