New Cheapskates Revealed!

Post by Eaglezsoar »

I hacked into the SeemeCNC computers and found two images of the new cheapskates for all of you that were wondering
and to burst Gene's "secret". For your enjoyment:

I'm guessing the second picture is part of the injection mold for the cheapskate frame in the first picture.

Here are my espionage photos, too!

They'll work with the new style arms (with the plastic spring clips), so yes to the V2's, and yes to the newer V1's. Luckily, all of the conversion parts are available for older machines, so you can do the upgrade on any SeeMeCNC machine, you just might need a few extra bits and pieces.

After getting the pictures and seeing what you have posted I can't help but wonder if those cheapskates will come apart for repairs to the wheels.
The seam looks as though it is glued together.

I see phillips head screws in the pictures, so I'd say they come apart.

Now have to see how to adapt the magnetic Arm Mod to those.

They have built in springs that control the pressure of the rollers, no more adjustments.

It is 2 plastic parts and 2 screws that replace 4 nuts, 4 screws, 4 cams, 4 spacers, 2 pieces of wood, and 1 arm carriage (and that's if you don't use any washers :) ) I'm sure it's considerably lighter too.

Did it come with the V1 to V2 kit you received?

Nope. I only got wooden parts. The official kit will have more, based on the list of things that I needed to finish the job.

The bearings in my pictures were the only ones on the planet at the time (probably in the universe). Since then, they've re-made the mold with some refinements and are (I assume) gearing up for production.

They look absolutely superb! I'm really excited to see how these are released (standalone + upgrade kit, for those of us who don't want a full upgrade kit please!).

I wonder how the Tensioners will last on the Bearings, Looks like it is just molded and relays on the plastic spring tension. I could be wrong and not seeing something.

Nope, no springs or anything, just the flex of the plastic.

I'll be curious to see what mileage these are good for as well.

Mind = Blown.

I saw some pics online of these things that someone took at the Midwest RepRap festival. They were not real close up views, but I could tell they were transparent and so I know this is what I saw. I was afraid to say anything because I didn't want to make anyone mad incase there were others like me who would be tempted to hold off until these came out.

I hope it is soon. Any estimates?

Thank you for sharing.

SeeMe doesn't usually make release ETAs since they hate to disappoint if something goes wrong, just wait.
