Building Rostock max v2 - Italy

Post by simowaves »

Hello,
my printer arrived, finally
I had some problems with the costumes, in fact they still have my filament :/ hoping to get it soon.

just started to put together the Rostock v2! :) soooo exited
todays session:
- first of all checked all the parts, counting screws and Co, nothing missing! exactly 10/10, hope i wont loose anything.
- since I don't have UltraCopper RTV skipped the hot-end part.
- preparing the PowerSupply cabling, was quite confused by which Yellow & black cable to take, does it matter? or are all exactly the same? I ended up taking the longest ones.
- SUGGESTION: when I put in the cables in the Rambo Power-connector i used some crimps to make a nice safe connection, so no wire can escape (picture will come).
- then i unwrapped the laser-cut plates, i underestimated that, took me quite a while. Still hoping that i dint accidentally trow away some pieces :} i will find out in some days.
- last job of the day was attaching the feet and the Power-connector to the base.

Can't wait for tomorrow :D
Ciao

Welcome to the forum!

All of the yellow wires are the same, this shouldn't matter.

I used crimp pins on mine too.

Hey, nice work,
im still quite far from that point, but building is fun.

checklist completed:
- pass cables in the towers ( i dont recommend to pass the endstopcables one by one, i used the bare wire and pulled them trough)
- solder heated bed (not easy, i suck in soldering, electrician friend saved my day!!)
- prepare hot-end (messy work, and its smell so bad , actually a little like Ketchup ;) , anyone notced? )
- mount motor stands
- attach top cover of the base ( while doing this i found in the instruction to use just 6 1" screw, but in the picture he actually places all 12 of them!!)
here are some pics i promised,

crimp pins

I was wondering while covering the pase with the lasercut plate, how the **** do I install the rambo?? later or did i miss a step? We will see :)

Status:
7 hours of work
% of work done. somewhere in the middle i think
emotionally stable, still happy. no sign of frustration yet;)

Will keep you updated
Ciao :D

Looks like you're progressing nicely. If the V2 is anything like the first version, the Rambo is installed near the end.

Build going on great!
work in progress
work in progress
Towers: mounted!

endstops: Why does it say to bend the endstops?? to me it seems to fit much better with the straight contacts!!

belts: mountes!
hotend: almost, the temperature sensor was almost coming out, the little trasparent isolating tubes of it moved and exposed some wire after i already solderd everything:/ to fix it i put on mooore RTV, hopefully there wont be a contact. ontherwhise will have crazy or no temperature;/

Do the U-joint AXIS have to be tight or do they have to spin????? after I mounted the springclips the u joint dont spinn freely anymore, is this normal. I mean they still spinn but not freely

TIPP: when mounting the #4-40 T-Nuts for the hotbed press or hammer them in all the way! I was cautious and dind't, so before mounting the hotbed I had to screw them all in deeper, pecause the screw trough the hotbed was to short tho reach them.

tomorrow hope to finish and start calibrating!
so stoked!

The endstops are bent so that is easier to put on the connector when pushing it on from the bottom.
The springclips are designed to eliminate free play by putting a little tension on the u-joints, they will still spin, but not without a little resistance. That is the way they are designed.

D:
help, pls,
I'm trying to calibrate the printer. I set the lowest Z hight and then went on calibrating the Z hights close to the towers, Z and Y seem to be ok and it touches the paper,
but when i do the same procedure with the X tower it stops about 5mm over the bed!!! dont understand why,
repeated the whole process already 3 times but with no success.

:( happy for any advice
