Just Finished Build, Z Axis does not go up, only down

Post by geolupulus »

Okay, so finished my build last night. It powered up nicely, I got the firmware on there, and used Repetier Host to manually control the printer, as the assembly manual says to do. The X and Y axis move up and down just fine, exciting! The Z axis only moves down. It will not move up. When the Rostock is powered down, the cheapskate moves up & down freely. I reinstalled the firmware on the Rostock to no effect. Could my belts be too tight? A thought went through my mind that perhaps something is wrong with the RAMBO connection for the Z axis motor, and I am considering plugging the motor connector into a different port on the RAMBO. Any ideas?

check your endstop... if the endstop has a break in the wire, came unplugged, or the pin in the connector to the rambo got pushed out and isnt making a connection, that will happen...

Well I feel pretty small right now. You hit the nail on the head. I had the pins for the Z axis end stop installed incorrectly into the 3-pin connector. All fixed! Thanks for the guidance Guanu!
