PLA Extruder/nozzle problem.

Post by Tonkabot »

Okay, I have tried to print the 'tower of PI smaller fixed' twice now in PLA, and it fails at the same point. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:271769

What happened the first time I am not sure, but as soon as it got to printing the sides where it repeatedly retracts and extrudes at a high frequency the PLA filament broke and jammed up right before going into the bowden tube. This was learned by me taking apart the EZ struder (oh, I have a Max V2) after the fact.
I assumed that the nozzle running at 190 was to cold and contributed to the failure.

[And I guess I need to add to the improvements and suggestions thread that turning the extruder 5 or 10 degrees so that the screws don't line up with the verticle rail will really allow taking the extruder apart in place a lot easier. And I can do it myself just by relocating one of the mounting holes]

Now last night I tried it again, and it failed again at the same point. This time I was printing at 210, and I could see it in action. I haven't pulled it apart to see where the problem is yet, but I could see that the lock ring on the bowden tube was moving a lot, and nothing was coming out the nozzle.

I suspect that someone knows what is going on already.
