Stock Hotend bracket rod slipping

The new hot end bracket has these short metal rods that attach everything together. One of mine is slipping, the other 2 seem stationary or to have a tendancy to slip toward the fan which blocks them from moving. I first noticed it after it had come apart. I was able to push it back in with my fingers and am now monitoring it.

I had been running the machine at 275% for at least a few hours before i noticed this.

Other than running the machine slower, anyone got an idea about this?

Contact support at SeemeCNC with this one, they need to be aware that is happening and they can suggest the best remedy for this.

my suggestion to fix issue was...
I think you could drive some short #4 self taping screws in at an angle between the little tabs that grab axle and the axle itself to prevent axle from walking out...
I have not tried this, but it is how we fasten our CF arms to the v2 platform.

Brian, I am sure your solution will fix the problem but if everyone bypassed SeemeCNC support on this the support team would never know the problem
existed or the extent of it. Something like this and the new V3 Onyx not heating correctly should be reported to support so that they are aware of the
problems. Your solution is fine as a short time fix, but support should be notified.

Hi All,

Just confirming the same issue here - I've been manually re-seating the metal rods on the hotend as they slipped with the massive amount of printing I've been doing lately (see - lightsabers!)

I'll fire a note to SeeMeCNC support when I get home.

you are right, SeeMe does need to know. of course.
I was just providing another option for users to be able to fix it themselves, I did not mean to imply not reporting issue to SeeMe.
My fix should work long term, better than the temporary "fix" they suggested... to put a dab of superglue on one end.

I have the same issue with my Orion especially with the gap filling at high speed. I think I'll just glue the axle to the plastic clip.

I had that same issue on my V1 Rostock MAX, I just printed up some little corner brackets to keep the rods from moving out, and also hold LED's.

If the rods were moving in the v1 platform assembly, that just means the screws holding the halves together weren't tightened or the u-joints are frozen to the steel shafts.

They were tightened, but I didn't really crank down on them cause then I had to deal with the plastic being distorted, take apart, re-file, put back together, hope the screws were torqued exactly the same as last time so I go the same amount of distortion, etc, I decided that it was simply easier to just put the brackets on the corners which seems to work fine since even my first print's quality was pretty good.

I did reach out to support, this is what they said:

So it sounds like they're aware of the problem and making progress on a long term solution. I also appreciate the specific instruction on gluing.

I am also having this issue, and am noticing that my prints are sloping in the direction of the slipping rods. Has anyone else notice a reduction in print fidelity due to this? I was thinking about eliminating the plastic clips and putting wheel collars on each end of the rod like I would do for my RC model servo links.

I applied a bit of white lithium grease to the outsides of the bearings on the metal shaft (including where they contact the effector), and the slipping has completely stopped. So far nearly a month since my "fix", and they haven't moved a bit.

This works!

I used this "grease" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JT8ELS/. (its a powder in a squeeze tube... wtf?)

I noticed in applying the grease that the one axle that was not slipping was already held in place by a screw, Gaunu why'd you place a screw in just the 1?
