setting up the rostock max

Post by dakotac »

hi, i recently finished the physical build for the rostock max, and im trying to get the computer to interface with it. i downloaded the repetier program, i have the arduino 1.5.6-r2 installed and i downloaded the firmware to put on the 3d printer. trouble is that i tried uploading the firmware and all it did was make the display on the printer go blank. the com ports are right, it has power, the cords are good, and i was at some point able to verify that the motors are connected correctly, any help is appreciated.

You're going to have to be more specific, did the LCD work before you flashed the board?
How did you flash the board, were there any reported errors from the arduino IDE?
What board did you select in the IDE etc etc etc.

im using windows 7, i flashed the board after i tried connecting it to the computer, i could get a thermistor reading, but when i used the repetier program to send the printer commands, it would say that it had 7 commands pending as soon as i turned it on. i figured that the coding must need to be updated as the board for the printer was wired and rewired and had no problems. i flashed the board, and the screen went blank, i tried altering the configurations with this site:http://www.repetier.com/firmware/v091/ to generate the proper files. i managed to get the display to come back for a while, and that is when i tried the menus on the printer itself using the display. i tried the home commands, and the printer decreased in height about an inch. i turned off the printer and lleft for a while, and i came back to find that the display doesn't work again. i tried loose connections, and that didn't fix it, then i tried flashing the board again and that didn't help either. when i say flash the board, i use the arduino IDE to upload the INO file to the port located on the printer. at first i kept getting errors saying that the programmer timed out, but the action said that it had finished uploading. other than that, there were no errors. i chose to use the arduino mega 2560 in boards and the programmer is still AVRISP mkII.

You need to use the firmware directly from SeeMeCNC, it's pre-configured for the printer, configuration especially for the LCD is not trivial.
I think the manual has a link to the download.
