Can't connect to Rambo

Post by forrie »

Hi,

I've just finished my build of the v2 and I'm have issues.

The printer powers up but I have two problems. First - the LCD screen doesn't work, and Second - I can't communicate with the Rambo.

The USB driver has installed fine and I can see the port correctly, but I get the following when trying to clear the EEPROM:

Code: Select all

Binary sketch size: 1,348 bytes (of a 258,048 byte maximum)
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer
Everything seems to be connected correctly and the Rambo fan is spinning...

When I upload the orange led on the board flashes 6 times about 10 seconds apart.

Any idea's?

You probably have wired the LCD incorrectly. Check that.

As for connecting, you didn't say if you had a PC or Mac. You will either need drivers (did you install them) or alternatively change your baud rate - on both the printer and the software.

119,200 works ok for Macs. PCs can handle higher speeds.

PC - Windows 7, I have the usb driver installed and I tried reinstalling it.

I've tried all the different baud rates and still the same problem. I've also tried with the printer powered on and off.

I guess some level of communication is going on with the board as the orange led blinks during the upload process.

Are there any other led's I should see on the board? I read somewhere there should be a green power led? I'm not seeing one?

:oops: Well this is embarrassing :lol:

I guess when I installed the Rambo one of the power leads worked its way loose on my modular PSU. I had no power going to the board....phew.

My multimeter saves the day again.....Crisis averted!

Everything is working - yippie!
