First print, part of Nefertiti

Post by Elysio »

Hi

After all my questions, screaming  and making you crazy. This is your work too.
Thank you so far.

This is a cut out of the bust Nefertiti, I`ve created. Just a test print. But Life size, So far so good. I have to learn. As you can see using a support does not prevent ugly overhangs.
Anyway, while I`m writing you this letters I`m making a test with this print with the head downwards, it looks much better, and that without support!

Setting:
- Slic3r
- Layer 0.1mm
- 30mm/s
- Travelsp. 100mm
- PLA
- Infill Honeycomb 0.15
- One slide with the glue stick over the glas, that was enough.
- Time ~ 11h

Bye and see you when the whole bust is printed.

Looks good with the .1mm layers. I am anxious to see the finished bust.

Very nice. Just a suggestion. Since you have a flat surface on the back side of the face, why dont you just flip the print and lay the flat down on to the surface. That way you dont have to use a support.

Hi Subsoniq

Yes you are right, this would be the best variation without using supports, but It wont give the best "resolution" for the lips and the nose, layering in Z axis gives me the best possible accuracy.
Yesterday I made a second test with the head downwards to the glas, without support, and with 35mm/s insteat of 30mm/s the result is much better, because the printer head doesnt jump around from place to place, it ran straight through over all perimeters, and that made the surface quality much better too. So avoiding retraction and jumping increaes the surface quality......... Do I think. maybe I`m wrong because I`m just newb.......

Don't kid yourself. For being a newb as you called yourself you are doing a damn good job. Don't put labels on yourself because others see you differently.
Others see you as someone who is doing an excellent job.
