Home Towers (delta orion)

Post by Ilja »

Hi, hope you can help me. When I home towers in the printer settings my extruder instead of going up goes all the way down until hitting the heat bed. then I have to switch the power to stop it from breaking. It was working fine before. Any advice how to fix it? Thanks.

Before what?

Most likely you need to invert the stepper directions in the firmware, or you can rewire the steppers, but I'm assuming you changed something before this started happening?

well it was printing fine after I set the printer following the instructions in the manual when it arrived. then for a while I didn't use the printer, so I decided to calibrate Z height before using it again. While I was doing it I realised that I do not really remember if the way I am doing it is the right way. So, instead of working it out I have decided to refer to Orion User Manual which suggests first to home towers. When I tried to home them it led to the nozel at first fast and then slower going down and then continuously hitting the surface of the bed until I swithced it of.

My firmware EEPROM settings show that Z max length is: -93.193. Could that be the reason why it is not homing properly? If it is, how to fix it?

Could well be, it's supposed to be positive

Change the negative value to a positive number. My Orion is about 202 for a zheight.

Once you get a positive number in the EEPROM, then go to LCD - advanced settings - calibrate z height.
Home Towers - Z position and turn the knob until the nozzle drags on a piece of printer paper then set new Z=0.00
That should be all you need to do. I have no idea how you ended up with a large negative number in EEPROM.
