Significant abrasion after 30h permanently printing

Post by Elysio »

Hi

Just want to ask if you have observed such an issue.
At the moment I`m printing hugh parts, the chest of a bust, that means the Rostock is used to the limits of the printing area. So this is the area that is possible, diameter of 260mm.
But after printing permanently over 30h I can see very small crumbs around the coloums. when I touch it I can see that its very fine grained powder!
Has anybody else observed such a problem ?
It could have 3 possible origins
- The joints/ connection of the arms on the hotend ?
- The rubber belt
- The joints on the cheapskates.

I think its the belt which slides in the coloum on the wall of the gap. I`ve sanded the sharp edges of the cuts of the coloums , maybe its not enough, but I think its in general a problem of this construction, the belt should not slide in the coloum, even if its elegant, maybe it causes also friction which interfers for a good printing result.

I guees I should order some spare belts, I dont want to imagine what will happen when a belt breaks while printing

Best regards, Chris.

It does indeed seem to be a belt that is rubbing, creating the dust.
On the top idler for the belt is the belt running in the center of the idler or off to either side?
If off to the side you would want to loosen the idler screw and raise the side the belt is running against.
You only need to raise the side of the idler a small amount and retighten the screw. This is more difficult than it sounds because you have to keep doing this until the belt runs in the center
of the idler. Best of luck in getting the belt running in the center in the least number of tries.
