Congratulations on a superb print!
Where did you get the stl file from and also what material and color is that. Really nice.

Re: Nefertiti
Holy crap! That is wicked!
In the first picture, it looks like it's finishing the top of the head, but the second it's printing from head to neck. I imagine the second is actually the way it sits to avoid supports... is that right?

Re: Nefertiti
Very nice! I'd go apeshit if that failed near the end.

Re: Nefertiti
Thanks to all!
@ atoff, Yes there is always a bit fear that the print will stop or fail near to the end.
@ Tinyhead, I`ve printed the face like on the second photo, with the head downwards, indeed to avoid supports , well observed Tinyhead !!
The first photo is just an aesthetic depiction for publicity work in future.
@ Flateric, thats PLA Cremewhite, i bought it at igo3d.com, the cheap one because i need 1kg spoles. For this 2 parts I needed nearly 1kg PLA, Thats really a mass of PLA
But anyway thats the way I want it !!
I`ve created the bust by myself, over the last 2 years, the program for sculpting was 3DCoat.

Re: Nefertiti
What was the layer thickness? I zoomed in on a picture and I cannot see any lines! Did you do any post treatment? Like acetone vapor or sanding?
Challenge yourself and be a more awesome you.
Re: Nefertiti
This is a visualisation of the 3D file how she should look like on the end of the way.
The layer thickness is 0.1mm no Aceton or sanding, this will come in the near future to make the silicone negative.
Later to get the gipsum positive.
Bye.

That is beautiful! Very cool indeed!
Re: Nefertiti
This is really amazing. What a work of art Sir. Well done indeed.
Wish I had the skills to design like that.

Hello
Thank you for your kind feedback.
Now stage 2 is done, the parts are merged and the bust is now completed.
Some experiences I had with printing such a big an object.
1. The printer :
- the printing time was r.a. total 200h, the printer did a good job, but the joints of the arms have now to much margin, is not so much that the printer can not work but it reduces the accuracy. I can see the grease squeezing out of the gap when I moving the arms in one direction and it get sucked back when I move it back, thats not a good sign ! Even with grease / and lubrication ! In short time i have to oder some new arms thats the sad truth
- I killed one glas plate, if you have to print large parts with hugh base, the part sticks so extremely that the 3mm glas plate was to weak. Now I have a 6mm glas plate.
- Abrasion for the belts is visible but not really a thing.
- The stepper motor for the material feeder gets really very very warm , how can i cool it, with fan or with passive cooling ribs?
2. The bust:
- 30mm/sec was the max printing speed
- 210° C / 60°
- Sclic3r because the surface quality is getting much than Cura, but with one drawback. When the printer changes from vertical printing to horizontal printing slic3r is not able to close the surface proper there are gaps and somtimes holes and the hull is very thin, I know this is is the consequence from vertical printing to horizontal printing, but Cura can handle such problematic situations much better that slic3r. Cura has just problems with the surface quality.
- PLA cremewhite
- 5 parts, each needs r.a. 40h
- mostly the parts fitting perfectly, but one part has some bend
, I guess my experiment shuting off the bedheater while printing was mistaken.
Thats the completed bust.
