You will - 8.3 file name format... if you have old rom... otherwise, shitty reader?

I iike the big old landing pad you have on there. I never got that extreme but it is a very good idea.

So I tried disconnecting the USB completely. RAMBO is powered from 110v, not USB.

-I preheat for ABS. I can read files from the SD card.
-I can execute GCODE from the SD card, like scripts to home to towers and other delta ballet style pieces.
-Everything is hot and at the expected temps, so I select a file to print "simple.g".
-Extruder drops to the bed, prints the brim, proceeds a bit more, then stops. Nothing more.

one more thing, all files were sliced with Cura. However I can successfully load them into Repetier-Host and print the GCODE through that interface over USB.

Suggestions?????

If you are using the SD card that was sent with the LCD, it is notorious for not working correctly with the symptoms being what you have described.
You need to purchase a class 10 SD card (not Kingston) then your problems should be over.

Bought this one, same problem. I preheat for abs. Then one it's heated, I insert card and select a small file. Print starts, but stops before the brim is even finished. Slicing is done with cura.

More suggestions?

Sometimes the cables from the card reader is picking up EMI noise, the fix is to place ferrite cores on the cables.

Pulled off the front cover, stretched out the ribbons. Printed directly from the sd card without issues. Guess it needs the ferrite cores!

You can also try wrapping the ribbon with aluminum foil. Kapton over any solder points so you don't short anything, and then ground only one end.

You can salvage ribbon ferrite sleeve things out of those scanner copier printers, I got a few out of two I just salvaged the other day.

You can buy them at http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/e ... ND/2465452
They are hinged and just snap on the cables.

You would need two of them. (one for each cable)
