Rostock will not Home correctly? **SOLVED**

Post by aaronsinclair »

Okay, so I finally got this thing built. Very excited about using it. I got to page 208 of the manual. All the cheapskates go to the top as they should. But, when they get there whichever one hits first begins to bounce back and forth violently. It makes a lot of noise as well. It looks like 2 of the axis make it to the switches but one never does. That "one" seems to depend on whichever one is lowest. I tried pushing the switch by hand and it stops. Does anyone know how to fix this? I did the M119 command and all switches check out.

Thanks all!

did you check each one individually with m119? because what you are describing is having endstops plugged into the wrong spots... been there done that a few times...
with the rambo installed the bottom row of endstop plugs are what you use (you know this since it homed), and it goes in x y z order.. x being front left tower, y being front right, z being rear..

I sure did. I checked each tower with M119 command and by hand triggering the switches. Each came back working fine.

Any other suggestions?

does the movement of each tower individully match the others?
Purple = sarcasm

Please do a board search before posting your question, many have been answered with very time consuming detail already.

The movement does seem to match the others. All of them move up at the same time. One always starts spazzing out though. And its not always the same one. It seems dependent on which tower hits first. The last or third tower never even makes it all the way up. Thoughts?

You said if you manually hit the switch it stops?
If this is the case surely the only issue it can be is that the endstop screw isn't hitting the switch

You mention violent bouncing I assume this is the carriage forcing itself against the top of the tower, or is it more pronounced bouncing?

Only other thing I can thing of is a short somewhere in the endstop wiring, have you tried the end-stop switches in combination, and verified M119
Or possibly some really bad noise from the motor wires, but that usually results in false positives.

Things to try:

- Disconnect two of the three tower motors, and try homing with just the third. Does it react as expected when it hits the top? Can you stop it moving by pressing one of the OTHER tower end stops?

- Can you manually move the motors without homing? (I can't remember if that's possible...) If so, do all three motors work as expected?

- Try clearing your EEPROM and re-uploading the latest Repetier-Firmware

- If you start the homing process with the Cheapskates low on the towers, and then manually press one of the end-stops before the Cheapskates arrive at the top, what happens?
