Reel problems

Post by 0rionN00b »

Dunno if anybody else has had this issue...

I've had issues (when doing large prints) of having the layer fan hitting either the reel mount, or the extrusion motor.

Sometimes I could remove the layer fan (it's not used in the first later or two anyway, and I can slide it manually - but that's a pain).

So i came up with the idea of getting the reel up and away from the bottom, and then moving the layer fan over to the left side, so it would no longer hit....

here's what I did...

basically, i printed a spool mount that hangs on the top of the unit..

I did drill a hole thru the top, to keep it from sliding off...

hope it helps somebody else..

I did print this at .8" thick, so it uses A LOT of plastic. if I get around to it, i'll shell it out and repost a file with less plastic in it....
