Re: Rostock max making objects....
You should leave both of those at 100%
Feedrate sends an MCode that multiplies all movement speed by that amount, i.e. setting it to 100% is the speed selected in the slicer 50% is half that etc.
Flowrate sends an MCode that only effects the speed of the extruder moves, again 100% is what's requested in the slicer, 200% gives you twice as much plastic.
Generally you should tune the settings in the slicer.

Thanks Polygohell.
I agree that the settings should be set in the slicer, however g describes in his manual that for the calibration cube, the Feedslider should be set to 50%.
I will try again.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
The idea is to slow it down - that's the guidance I got from John. If it's wrong, I can certainly revise the manual!

Re: Rostock max making objects....
You can certainly change the feedrate, it just adjusts the overall speed of the print including extrusion speed, though I'd still personally set the right speed in the Slicer.
You should not touch the flowrate unless you want to change the amount of plastic being extruded, I assume it's there because the firmware exposes it for people doing fine tuning of ESteps. The idea being you print a solid calibration cube then change the setting as it's printing, until you get what you consider to be a perfect surface finish, but you have to realize that there can be a significant delay between changes to the value and changes to the print, because movements already in the planning buffer are not affected.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
Thanks to both.
g: The setting of the speedslider to 50 is working fine.
Then came the issue with the flowrateslider. What I meant was that you recommended to set the speedslider to 50 without setting the flowrateslider to 50 as well. But as I understand from Polygonhell the flowrate follows the speedslider. So no problem.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
Something other than a calibration shape just for a change of pace.
The is using Ultimachine natural ABS, 240 degrees, 0.2mm layer height, it's a pretty good test of stringing, the front legs are a lot like the hollow pyramid, but the print is more interesting, this print is just finished and without any cleanup.
It's a fairly tricky print in ABS because of the steep overhang of the frogs belly.
Not perfect, but not bad for now.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
And once more this time in Ultimachine Green PLA
I've spent no time tuning the PLA setting, it's basically the same settings, but with the temperature set to 200 hotend, 60 bed.
For cooling I have 120mm fan to one side of the bed sitting on top of a 3 inch riser, running at 50% for the entire print, works pretty well, I think I'm going to try mounting a 200mm fan to the top plate angled so the air blows to the center of the bed.
Some strings around the legs, I'll probably drop the temperature to 190, increase the retract slightly, but again a pretty nice print.

Looks great, how much retraction are you using and what do you slice with?

I use KisSlicer for almost everything including this model, I'll resort to Cura if KisSlicer has an issue with the model which does happen occasionally.v8tony wrote:Looks great, how much retraction are you using and what do you slice with?

Those prints are 5mm retraction @ 55 mm/s, and 10mm of wipe, the PLA print has 0.3mm of Z-Lift.
Wipe is a KisSlicer feature, where the head backtracks over the previous print line after the retract, but before the move, getting rid of a lot of the nozzle dribble.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
Thanks...
I've been using Cura for everything... I haven't played with KisSlicer... Still using Repetier for control of the device and just importing g-code I assume?

Yes I usually use repetier host to run the printer.v8tony wrote:Thanks...

KisSlicer is my favorite slicer by a lot, it uses different terminology than most of the reprap software because it was originally targetted at the BFB printers, but it's worth the effort to get used to.
Most people could get away with the free version, I bought it, but mostly because I think it's worth $40.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
My biggest issue with Cura is that I've been unable to get it to support multiple objects on the print bed. It doesn't position them properly for the delta style configuration.
Does Kisslicer have good delta support?

In so far as it lets you set 0,0,0 in the center of the bed, yes it allows that.geneb wrote:My biggest issue with Cura is that I've been unable to get it to support multiple objects on the print bed. It doesn't position them properly for the delta style configuration.

g.
However you should be aware that printing multiple objects is a function of the "pro" $40 version, it's one of about 3 things the free version doesn't do.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
I don't have a problem buying it if it works well with delta printers. $40 is peanuts compared to something like Inventor.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
And another print from Sundays "messing with PLA" day, this is scaled to 70% of the original size, 0.2mm printed at higher speed than the frog, retract at 7mm but otherwise identical settings. I tried printing this at 190 and it failed, so the print is again at 200, there are a couple of perimeters on the model that didn't go down completely cleanly, which with the translucent PLA is usually a sign of not printing quite hot enough, so I'll prob ably go up to 210 with this plastic.

Re: Rostock max making objects....
I am trying the Kisslicer now.
However there is no commands to the extruder motor.
So it prints like hell, but no filament comes out.
(My extruder is working fine when using Slic3 and within the Repetier.
Any Ideas??

Re: Rostock max making objects....
You need to set the firmware type to 5D absolute, it defaults to BFB which doesn't use a stepper based extruder.kometen wrote:I am trying the Kisslicer now.

Hi!
I am also playing around with Kisslicer. What settings do you guys use in the ...Speed tab? When I started my first print with the default settings the stepper motors made a noise as if they wanted to jump out of their seating when travelling down from the home position. And I also don't know what to set for 5D Temp G-code and if i have to make some G-code Prefix and Postfix settings.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers,
Sigi
My settings:
X,Y Travel Speed: 500
Z-Speed: 15
1st Layer Speed: 10
All other values: 10
