Printed some Metal with my new V2!!!

hahaha... Made you look! =P

Seriously though, this is my fourth print on my new V2 and the biggest so far. Also the highest res print I've done so far at .1mm.

Overall it came out pretty good. A pretty challenging print overall, considering the complex geometry's and extensive support structures required. Took 13.5 hours.

In the end, there was only a very mild bit of layer separation down the the mid line of the base, a bit of warping on the M (as well as a birds nest on the upper back corner of the M), and some bird nesting and messed up links in the chains. Also the odd plastic tit here and there that needed some trimming. managed to patch up quite a bit of muck ups using a soldering iron and some spare filament. Even reformed and reattached several of the chain links to strengthen the support of the letters.

Here's a bunch more pictures from the print bed to fully (well, mostly) cleaned.

I plan to finish up the trimming and filling and then I'm going to try to smooth it with an acetone vapor bath. If it works well, I'll prime it and paint it for a completely finished result.

If I print it again I'd definetely slow it down a little (printed at 45mm/sec), bump the heat (printed at 230-235), use a smaller print nozzle (.5mm that came with kit was used here), and build some kind of heat chamber for the printer. Or I might cut it up and print it in several different pieces not requiring supports.

In the end, I'm definitely happy with the finished print!

An excellent result of what a 3D printer can do. Absolutely wonderful considering that this is one of your first prints.

That is an awesome print! Would love to see how it turns out after the acetone finish and painting.
