I occasionally get an interesting contract and this is one of them. Part of it involves a comparison/evaluation for a bunch of broadcast camera pan/tilt robotic heads - and that means setting 'em up on a bench shooting lasers at targets and checking traverse speeds, noise, repeatability, accuracy, etc, etc, etc.
Lasers. Used to get 'em anywhere but now pointers are getting a struggle to find. Especially at short notice. Our guys found some corporate jerk style synergistic enablement blah blah presentation Logitech jobs at some ridiculous price but, worse than the price, was the shape of them. Beautiful for holding in your hand but how the heck were we going to mount these things to the camera platforms?
RMax to the rescue.
With this:

I can now take this:

and mount it to a head with two screws. What's more is the forward top piece has a bump in the middle which holds down the laser's momentary "on" button to keep the red dot going.

Unfortunately, commerce in confidence blah blah blah means I can't post the video of them in action. But a nifty little save from the printer and, needless to say, the guys at work are all a little impressed at what this "toy" can do.

I work IT for higher ed, so I deal with these monstrosities every day. I'm glad that someone else sees them for what they really are tooCaptain Starfish wrote:Our guys found some corporate jerk style synergistic enablement blah blah presentation Logitech jobs at some ridiculous price but, worse than the price, was the shape of them.

They are designed that way to discourage anyone for stealing them!
