Hello all.
I am having issues with my extruder stepper. It was intermittent at first but is now constant. I had thought it was the motor at first but I just replaced it and the new one is doing the same thing. If I am running a print or using manual controls it just grinds/vibrates like it is going back and forth a millimeter or so and does not move the filament. I am lost. I have checked all the wiring. The problem first showed up when I upgraded to the latest Repetier. It did not do it all the time when I first upgraded at that time I could turn everything off and restart and the issue would clear. Now once I connect I cannot get even the manual control to work. Have I fried my board? Is there a glitch in the firmwear? Please help?

Couple of things I forgot to add. This is happening without any filament loaded. I have run a hundred or so successful prints up to this point.

Check your wiring end-to-end to make sure you don't have a failed crimp or a partially broken wire.

Re: Extruder vibrating/grinding/ not working in general
just put the Extruder plug to one of the others (eg. X-axis) outlet on the board.
Move via Repetier the z-high. What is your extrudermotor doing?
Same behavior? Check your wiring.
Moving normal? Compare pin settings in pins.h with your old repetier firmware.
If are the same I suspect your board or only the driver has a problem. Overheated? Fan working? Bad soldering on any trace from driver chip to the outlet-plug?

Sounds like you have a dead stepper driver, I had the same problem with my printer except it was the z axis driver not the extruder.

Thank you Everyone ! It's Fixed, It turned out to be a bad/ intermittent pin connection on the cable connector for the stepper. It was connected every time I checked it with a meter but would not work when connected to the motor.

I am glad that it was that simple and was not a blown board.michigansand wrote:Thank you Everyone ! Good Job!
