Repetier (?) ignoring my z-height setting

I've been running into this recurring issue with my Max v2. I set the z-height using the menu, check the level and radius which appears very good. Then when I print, it seems to be too far from the bed to make a nice bead. It's an issue that doesn't occur at all on my V1 which runs next to it from the same PC... If I were to guess, I'd say it's consistently 0.1 too far from the bed. Short of telling it to start at -0.1 I'm not sure what to do.
