Cant Install top plate... missing holes for T-Nuts?

Post by craftymethod »

From the V2 manual: (is it for v3 now too?)

"The next step requires that you open up the Onyx Heated Bed package and remove the included
#4-40 T-Nuts. These will be installed on the underside of the top plate as indicated by the green
squares in Fig. 4-37. You'll also need 12 #6-32 1” Stainless Steel pan head screws in order to affix the
top plate to the base."

My board does not have the holes in the green boxes... (none of the 6 at all)

Is there something Im not awear of? :)

Ah! :D

Looks like the holes have moved!

I can put the top plate on now.

Slowly buy surely.

Thanks!

I think my holes were in the Onyx ver6 position but my plate is V5.

Will see if that's a problem. :)

Bottom of page 49, highlighted in yellow: "If you have a Rev6 Onyx heated bed, the mounting holes will be rotated 30 degrees from the
position shown above."

The hole pattern on all Onyx revs is the same, it was only changed on the top place recently. I wasn't aware they were shipping Rev5 beds with kits that had the holes rotated.

I also have a rev 5 bed with rotated holes in the board. Adding laser etched indicator marks would be a huge help with assembly. You can't screw up with inserting T-nuts into the material. Removing them causes the teeth to lift the surface of the board material. I'm going to have to go around and touch all the chips with Sharpie caused by masking tape and hardware removing material during assembly.
