I'm always impressed how much detail you can get by squirting molten plastic out of a tube in layers, but some models still surprise me.
The following are printed in Ultimachine natural ABS on my Rostock Max.

What trick did you use to make your infill meet the perimeters like that?

No trick, I just calibrated the feedrate, fixed the slipping filament issues and set the edge overlap in KISSlicer to 75%.geneb wrote:What trick did you use to make your infill meet the perimeters like that?

I should note that my filament was still occasionally slipping long after I thought I'd fixed it.

Re: MakerBolt and Nut
I don't see any "edge overlap" parameter in KISSlicer.

In the Beta it's under Printers/Hardware it's a slider labelled "Loop/Solid Infill Overlap" the default value is 0.5.geneb wrote:I don't see any "edge overlap" parameter in KISSlicer.

The old release version also has the setting in the advanced preferences somewhere.
There are other things that can cause the issue you're seeing, filament slipping, and lose belts will both do it.
I would recommend you print a 100% infill test cube with retraction and wipe disabled, you can stop the print after 10 layers to look at it, if it doesn't show the issue, then most likely you have an issue where the filament is slipping on the retract/resume. It took me a long time to realize this was happening, the stepper wan't skipping I could see the retract/resume happening, but I was short of filament immediately afterwards which I put down to some slippage on the change of direction from retract to resume.

Re: MakerBolt and Nut
Great input...most prints continue to look better and better with time. It really is about trying new things and documenting them. Barnett had a print that exceeded my expectations and hopefully will post soon?...a custom balloon jet for his son's pet project. The biggest issues I see overall are the infill not hitting perimiters......the last post seems promising. Good luck all.......can't wait to get my own and experiment..no kids....more time.....equals too much time with this...haha..
Re: MakerBolt and Nut
I tried the test cube and the infill still isn't hitting the perimeters properly. I'll post a picture of it tonight if I remember.
tnx!
