bird in a birdcage at 40 microns

Post by guanu »

Still trying to dial in exposure time with G+ resin.. but getting close! Exposure still may be a bit too high, but it may also be that its still a relatively cheap projector... still, the results are not bad.

It looks really good to me! The only way to print like that with a Rostock is to use a 0.1mm nozzle. How exactly does the resin cure time affect print quality?

well thats exactly what I've been testing and tweaking all day.. basicaly if you cure it long, the light will bleed and bloat your lines, too little and just the opposite... its just like on the printers, over and under extruding can be seen in the surface... so tomorrow I will be doing the same print over and over using the same layer height, but just trying to dial in exposure times and see what I can come up with.

That was one of the reasons I really like the idea of the Form1. It uses a uv laser instead of a projector. It's minimum dot size is 0.012 inches, quite a bit smaller than a projector pixel. The projector based printers are waaaay cheaper to build though!
