max v2 kit first Print

Post by duvdev »

Hi all.
My 3d max v2 is ready. After the calibration this is how my first Print came out, I think that is pretty good.

What is this "Instruction manual" you speak of? Sounds useless....

It is useless to some - those that don't read and understand it or those 1% users who want to fix what is not broken.

I have the "black" copy of the instruction manual...you know the one that shows how to calibrate the user by dropping the 4-20 M/V and hooking them directly to 480.

Now hold on, thems fighting words! It's my right to redesign things that are working properly to make them considerably less reliable!

Yours definitely looks better then mine.
All in all it was okay for a first print, I guess.
What's with the little hiccups and the line that goes thru the center? Is this a machine-thing or a room/atmosphere/breeze/temperature-thing?
I did no tweaking except for what was called for by way of bed size and filament thickness. I haven't even begun to start on the lessons for designing my own stuff. ANY suggestions for that???

PS:
Mine didn't put down all that extra stuff on the bed... it just started straight away with the build of the object. Why? (Stuff to learn, switches to throw, knobs to pull to tweak the end product, I presume...)

Hi GPriv,

The extra stuff on the bottom of a print is determined by software settings. duvdev may be using software other than Repetier and Slic3r, or he may have just tweaked the slicing configurations to add the extra perimeters

In your photos the little hanging pieces the sides of the shroud are normal - everyone gets them, duvdev and myself included. As for the line in the middle of the print I had the same thing. I believe the cause may have been either a bit of a breeze, or an accidental bump of the printer, or most likely, I've been noticing that the filament spool is a bit "sticky" on the square edged spool mount and it jumps a bit when the extruder picks up the slack in the line.

Edit: I don't have a huge amount of experience with different filaments, but have you printed your fan shroud in ABS, not PLA? Personally, my PLA has always come out slightly glossy so seeing your glossy red fan shroud it made me think to mention this.

I print only in ABS. I'll be using my printed creations outdoors so I won't give a seconds' thought to PLA.

I plan on building a heat case--or whatever they're called. The things I print will need to be as near perfect this machine can print. I'll post pictures of the case when I'm finished with it, plus the plans. It'll be at least a week before I start, however. This printer took a week out of my time for my project (for which the printer will be a great benefit in due time). :-)
