Hi, I have been trolling the forum for a while now, debating whether or not to get the Rostock Max. Finally decided to build my own delta, but am using the Rambo card with lcd because I can build, but programming confuses me. Anyway here is a pic of the machine...

Nice build, How rigid do you find the single pole arms to the extruder when compared to 3D printers with dual arms?

Well, I am using the 20x40 extrusion, so I tend to like it better especially with long builds. The 20x20 extrusion is easier to misalign the 90 degree angles and easier to bend at the ends. Difference in price is pretty negligable also (15.00 for 20x20 and 19.00 for 20x40).

Hnm. I think you are right. The thicker extrusion would make assembly more precise.


What I think was asked is: our deltas also have 3 arms supporting the hotend. However each of the arms consists of 2 poles. This makes the geometry more stable. Your printer seems to have only one pole per arm. Do you notice any problem flex or torsion resulting from the different geometry.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't see any problem yet (/crosses fingers). When I check calibration squares, I am coming within .1 mm of the size. 25mm box came up with a 24.92x25.01x25.08 box and 100mm box came up to 99.96x100.14x100.09. I am pretty happy with those settings. I am using metal rod and used a jig I made to cut them so that they were all the same size. Also made a jig when i screwed on the ends so they are precise and then used the cragle to prevent as much flex as possible.
