Support material Stuck fast
I having some trouble printing pla with the support material being very hard to remove in spots. I am beginning to think that this may be an over extrusion problem?? Im printing with the colorfabb filament so it is a bit different than the regular pla blend, but i think thet the support should have some gappage between the support and the part??? Maybe this is a stupid issue and i can probably work it out myself, but wouldnt mind some insight..

What slicer do you use? I know that KISSlicer has a setting for "gap" that allows you to set a distance between support and part.

Cura has this too. It's in the "Expert" tab-Open expert settings-Support: Distance x/y(mm) and Distance z(mm). Hope this helps

Tried the same thing with abs and not having much joy.
The support material seems to be stuck there pretty good. My local printer supplier has an up and he said that the up does something to make the suports very easily removable.

try the settings suggested, but I use simplify 3d, out of the box the support removal is a piece of cake, it just wipes off!

My current Z gap is 2 layers (so 0.4mm)

MatterControl also has the offset Z and XY parameters, makes it nice and easy. In the latest dev version they've released something I was asking for after I watched the support being printed on an UP: interface layers. Print a nice quick 10mm line style support, then 2-4 interface layers, then your Z gap, then the supported material. Fast, saves filament on the support, and the easiest removal I've had. I generally set XY gap to 1.5mm and the Z to 2 layers.

What are the interface layers?

OK I found it.
You have to go to CONFIGURATION and change Update Feed to Pre-Release.
