How to clean Nylon out of Nozzle?

Post by jeffhuber »

I got a .8mm nozzle for my e3d v6 from e3d. I've been printing ok, but the nozzle keeps on getting jammed midprint. You can see here what ends up happening, either nylon sputs out or it stops entirely.

Here is a picture where you can see inside the nozzle. You can see there is only a small hole where filament can freely flow.

So two questions:
1. How to fix this so I can keep printing. How do I clean nylon out of the nozzle?
2. How to fix this so it doesn't happen again?

An update - I think I had run my hot end way too hot for the Nylon Bridge (as high as 280 for testing max layer adhesion) and so when I took apart the hot end to diagnose, I found completely fried nylon at the heater end of the heatbrake. I drilled most of it out, reconnected everything with a mini 3" bowden tube and starting hand feeding first ABS at 220, and then nylon bridge at 250. I noticed with nylon bridge at 250, when I retracted it the portion that was in the heatbrake was turning black - I figured this probably bad, and tried 245 which showed much less blackness.

TLDR: was probably printing too hot for filament and cooking it inside heatbrake
