I wanted to create something to hold some LED's and also provide a fan mount. So, I came up with this:
I went through a few prototypes to get here:
Here are some additional images showing how it looks.
Build Notes
- Attaches with 3 4-40x 1/2 screws.
- Trimming the support structure out of the fan area was a pain - go slow.
- The 3 mounts need to be cleaned up a bit for the nut to fit. Just make sure to trim only the nut side as the other side is the locator
- It's really close between the fan housing and the mount arm. I just trimmed the plastic a bit with a knife after printing.
- You will need to adjust the hole sizes so the 8mm LEDs fit snugly.
- When you print, the nozzle is a bit hidden by the assembly. Maybe I'll make another one if I get some ideas about some lower profile LEDs.
- Final part was printed in ABS.
- I just trim the fan input for a press fit of the fan. Haven't needed a screw to hold it in yet.
It holds 6 LEDs and the fan. I also wired a new 5V lead from the power supply all the way to the Hot End to power the LED's and whatever I might want in the future.LED and Fan holder
