Print head jogging causing issues...

Post by Greg3d »

Hi Everyone,
We just got our Rostock Delta Max V2 Printer set up an running for about a month. Prints seemed to be going good with little to no issues then all of a sudden I noticed an odditty in the prints about a cm from the build plate (pic of print included). I assumed it just need more/better(?) callibration, so I sat down and went into the manual again and re-ran the calibration procedure.

No luck, I noticed I couldn't get repeatable results, it was almost like the z level keeps changing occasionally. I then noticed the print head jogs off in a direction about 1 cm from the bed on hitting home (it also seems to do it at near the top). I thought mabey it was a belt issue, took them off and inspected (tightened everything), everything was ok. I flipped the belts just encase. The issues was still there. I next checked the joints and found a sticky one, got some lithium grease and got those suckers lubed up.... still an issue. Took it apart again, found a clip was getting causing a bit of stick (same arm that happened to have the sticky joint)..gave it a light sanding - Issue is still appears in the with the head.

Any other ideas at what the issue is?

I'm not even sure what arm it is, I'm going to disconnect a single arm and run just see if I can narrow it down to which axis is causing it.
If that doesn't work mabey it's a stepper motor? Is there an easy way to check that? I might even go so far as to reflash the rambo and start the process over to rule that out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I followed the V 1.5 of the assembly guide and used the links inside it to set up the software.

Check the setscrews for the pulleys and make sure they haven't loosened.

You may also want to check that the fan on the Rambo is operating. It can cause very random problems.

I thanks guys. I think i tracked it down to the stepper motors, they seemed to be slipping on the belt. I tightened them and re did the lock tight. hopefully that's all it was.
