Mount for E3D v6

Post by ericpudding »

I'm about to buy a E3D v6 for my Rostock Max v2 but curious as to what mounts people are using and which ones work well. I've seen multiple on thingiverse but havent found one that stands out as the best. What are your recommendations for the mount? And also looking for mounts that have files for a layer fan mount with it as well. And any advice for assembling the hotend when I get it?

I used the mount from SeeMeCNC, seems to be working fine so far. I did need to get some 1-3/8" #6 stand-offs.

The hotend assembles pretty easily, probably the hardest part was crimping the connectors, heh. I just followed the instructions.

The standard 12V model is fine.

Me and the guys at my makerspace ( facebook.com/themakerhive ) all are using the Yellow-Jacket mount. It's a nice way to integrate the mount and the wiring into one piece. It's also disconnectable.

I'm guessing I will need some longer screws too then?

Probably, yes.

Trick Laser made me some custom 40mm carbon fiber standoffs that are the perfect dimension to fit the E3D cooling fan between my mount and platform. It will depend on the thickness of your mount though, so I'd just mock it up and measure what you'll actually need for yours.

My mount, one of the oldest and recently updated to work with the V6. Comes with a printable spacer if you want to mount it above the hot end, and the mount itself has built-in cable management.

Hey I'm curious if and what your used for a layer fan shroud. Will the one that is shown in the manual work with the ed3 v6 and this groove mount? Thanks!!!

The hotend mount posted by 626pilot is the best I have used. I have used it on two Rostock Max and it works perfectly.
A job well done.
